Lehigh Carbon Community College Department of Workforce, office of Career Development and Civic Engagement seeks to hire a Career Readiness Coach who will develop and implement stackable credentials that align with NACE essential skills.  The candidate will create activities to promote the achievement of career readiness skills that encourage career pathway opportunity planning.

Responsibilities include working with students to develop strategies that enhance their career readiness goals and employability.  Using the Development of Validation of NACE Career Readiness Competencies as a guide, the Career Readiness Coach will coordinate work activities with college faculty and staff to prepare LCCC students for success in the workplace and lifelong career management skills.  This will encourage student engagement and aid in the achievement of the Title III grant’s goals and objectives.  This position will require travel to LCCC sites, occasional evening and weekend hours.   This position is embedded into LCCC’s Workforce department and will report directly to the Director of Career Development and Civic Engagement.

Position contingent upon grant funding.

Salary is restricted to above range and will not exceed the maximum of the range. Salary offers are non negotiable and offers are determined and are based upon related work experience submitted on resume.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Encourage students to participate in work-based and service learning, provide support throughout a student’s learning experience and create a badging system that aligns with NACE essential skills.
  • Build a framework for addressing career-related goals and outcomes of curricular and extracurricular activities, regardless of the student’s field of study
  • Provide individual coaching for students to pursue work-based and service learning opportunities through NACE branding credentials.
  • Embedded program into Student Athlete Experience, FYE& ASPIRA
  • Develop a badging system to track students’ completion of the modules
  • Communicate these skills to students and in collaboration with the Career Development team, represent these skills (through badges) on the resume.
  • Development of the eight curriculum/modules to include Career & Self-Development, Communication, Critical Thinking, Equity & Inclusion, Leadership, Professionalism, Teamwork and Technology 

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Computer literacy is required including a strong background in Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to learn Canvas (LMS) and Cougar Claw (Simplicity)
  • Must demonstrate excellent interpersonal, organizational and communication skills, strong sense of initiative, motivation and self-direction.
  • Must demonstrate the ability to interact positively with students, employers, faculty and staff in a professional manner.
  • A positive attitude, patience, service orientation and an awareness of the needs and concerns of varied populations.
  • Ability to lead by example; plan, organize and implement multiple projects and see projects through to successful conclusion.
  • Ability to function well in an atmosphere that promotes teamwork as well as initiative and independence.
  • Must possess a high level of commitment to continuous professional growth in skills and knowledge.

Qualifications:

Required

Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in higher education administration, student affairs, human resources or other related field from an accredited institution.

Certifications

  • Act 153 Clearances (Act 34 PA Criminal Background, Act 151 PA Child Abuse History, Act 114 FBI Clearance Fingerprinting)

      Work Experience

  • Three years of teaching experience

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand; walk; sit; use hands to handle or feel; reach with hands and arms; talk and hear.  The employee may regularly lift and/or move up to 15 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and distance vision.
